◆諏訪公園

諏訪公園（すわこうえん）とは

諏訪公園は、三重県四日市市諏訪栄町にある公園。

1906年春に、日露戦争の戦勝記念に諏訪神社の所属公園「保光苑」として開園。

諏訪公園は園内施設とともに市民の憩いの場となっていたが、1945年（昭和20年）6月18日夜の四日市空襲によって、鉄筋コンクリート赤レンガ造りの図書館を残して皆失われた。

焼失を免れた図書館の建物は、戦災以降、市立四日市病院に転用されることとなり、1948年（昭和23年）3月に図書館に返還された。

1973年（昭和48年）に四日市市立図書館が久保田に移転すると、この建物は1976年（昭和51年）から「児童館（こどもの家）」となった。

1995年（平成7年）に、中世ヨーロッパ調の噴水付中庭をイメージした公園として再整備された。

この際、中心市街地の浸水対策として、地下に貯留能力20,400立方メートルの雨水調整池が設けられた。

2003年（平成15年）1月31日には旧四日市図書館が国の登録有形文化財に登録され、同年8月22日にはすわ公園交流館が開館した。

Suwa Park is located in Suwa-Ei, Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. It was opened in spring of 1906 as “Hokou-en” park, belonging to Suwa Shrine, to commemorate the victory of the Russo-Japanese War. The park served as a place of leisure for citizens, but it was destroyed during the air raid on Yokkaichi on June 18, 1945, leaving only the reinforced concrete and red brick library building. After the war, the surviving library building was used as the Yokkaichi City Hospital and returned to its original purpose as a library in March 1948. When the Yokkaichi City Library moved to Kubota in 1973, the building became a children’s center in 1976. In 1995, the park was remodeled with a European-style fountain courtyard and an underground rainwater storage tank with a capacity of 20,400 cubic meters was built as a flood control measure for the central city area. On January 31, 2003, the former Yokkaichi Library was registered as a tangible cultural asset of Japan and the Suwa Park Exchange Center opened on August 22 of the same year.

 

 

中世ヨーロッパ調の噴水付中庭をイメージした公園

昔ながらの四日市駅前商店街を抜けると急にヨーロッパ風の公園が目の前に姿を現してくるので、だいぶ違和感はありますね（笑）

公園内には交番も設置してあるので、ご家族の方も安心してお子様を遊ばせることができそうです。

 

Passing through the old Yokkaichi station shopping street, a European-style park suddenly appears in front of you, which is quite a contrast. A police box is also set up in the park, so families can let their children play with peace of mind.

 

すわ公園交流館

昔は、図書館、戦後は病院として利用されていたこちらの施設は、現在、「すわ公園交流館」として地元の方々や子供たちの憩いの場となっております。

This facility, which was used as a library and then as a hospital after the war, is now used as the “Suwa Park Community Center” as a place for local residents and children to relax.

お隣になにやら高級そうなお店がみえました・・・。

その他：園内の様子

公園中心部はヨーロッパ風の街並みで、遊具などなさそうな公園ですが、もちろんそんなことはなく、すわ公園交流館の東側のエリアにあります。

The park center has a European-style streetscape and appears to be a park without playgrounds, but of course that’s not the case, it is located in the eastern area of the Suwa Park Community Center.

 

 

おまけ：四日市駅前

四日市商店街に訪れたのは何十年ぶり。

子供の頃は、お祭りなどでよくこの商店街を訪れておりました。

今はもうなかったのですが、当時は、角におもちゃ屋さんがあって、いつもワクワクしながらみては、欲しい欲しいと両親に駄々をこねていましたねー。

店舗がかわってもこの商店街の雰囲気が本当に懐かしかったです。

I visited the Yokkaichi shopping street after several decades. When I was a child, I often visited this shopping street during festivals. The toy store at the corner no longer exists, but I was always excited to visit it and kept nagging my parents to buy me things. Although the stores have changed, the atmosphere of this shopping street still feels very nostalgic.
